School Partnership Programmes (UK–China)
Our School Partnership Programmes support UK and Chinese schools in developing long-term, sustainable and education-led partnerships that are meaningful, manageable and aligned with UK school priorities.
We work closely with UK schools to establish partnerships that support curriculum enrichment, cultural understanding and professional exchange, while ensuring appropriate safeguarding, structure and ongoing support.
Who This Programme Is For
This programme is suitable for:
• UK primary and secondary schools
• Schools seeking to develop an international dimension beyond one-off visits
• Schools new to international partnerships as well as those with existing global links
• Schools interested in curriculum-linked global learning and cultural exchange
No prior partnership experience is required.
What the Partnership Can Include
School partnerships may include:
• Reciprocal school visits (student and staff)
• Joint curriculum projects and classroom collaboration
• Cultural and language exchange activities (including Mandarin)
• Virtual exchange and online collaboration
• Professional dialogue and staff development opportunities
• Support with formal partnership agreements or memoranda of understanding (where appropriate)
All partnership activities are tailored to the needs, capacity and objectives of the schools involved.
How We Support Schools
UK China EDU supports schools throughout the partnership process by:
• Identifying and vetting suitable partner schools in China
• Facilitating introductions and initial communication
• Supporting programme design and planning
• Advising on safeguarding, risk management and expectations
• Providing ongoing coordination and practical support
Our role is to ensure partnerships are educationally meaningful, well-managed and sustainable over time.
Safeguarding and Professional Standards
All partnership activity is developed in line with UK school safeguarding expectations. Where visits or exchanges are involved, appropriate risk assessments, supervision arrangements and safeguarding procedures are put in place.
