Buddy Program:

The Buddy Program pairs local UK students with Chinese students who have enrolled in UK schools. The aim of this program is to help Chinese students adjust to a new educational environment, make friends, and feel more comfortable in their new surroundings. The program also benefits UK students, who get the opportunity to learn about Chinese culture and develop cross-cultural communication skills.

Success Story:

In this case, a Chinese student named Xiaoling participated in the Buddy Program at a UK secondary school. Her English buddy, Emily, helped her adjust to the school’s academic and social life. They attended classes together, participated in school events, and explored cultural differences through shared activities. At the end of the program, the headteacher presented Xiaoling with a certificate of completion, and Emily gifted her a copy of Harry Potter as a token of friendship.
